The Repair Patch Workshops Launch in Bradford Libraries
January 23, 2026Community event promotes clothing repair and creativity
Starting from 29 January until 12 February 2026, libraries across Bradford will host a series of free workshops called The Repair Patch. These sessions aim to encourage residents to extend the life of their old clothes and fabrics through repair and creative reuse.
Details of The Repair Patch workshops
The workshops will be led by creative practitioner Duncan Burnett, who will provide guidance on a variety of textile skills. Participants can bring along their own items of clothing to mend or use materials supplied during the sessions. The workshops are drop-in and do not require prior booking.
- Locations and times:
- Manningham Library: 29 January, 5 February, and 12 February, 1pm to 3pm
- Keighley Library: 29 January, 5 February, and 12 February, 10am to 12pm
It is noted that a previously advertised session on 26 January at Keighley Library has been postponed, with additional dates added due to popular demand.
Focus and benefits of the project
The Repair Patch workshops are designed to promote sustainability by reducing clothing waste through repair and transformation. They also aim to foster creativity by teaching skills such as patchwork, embroidery, felting, rug making, textile printing, and memory textile sculpture.
Beyond practical skills, the sessions offer a mindful, calm environment that supports wellbeing and encourages community connections across Bradford’s diverse neighbourhoods.
Funding and wider programme
The Repair Patch is part of the wider Our Patch arts programme running throughout 2025 in Bradford. Our Patch supports a variety of free community workshops and events across the district, including activities such as painting, poetry, dance, cooking, and gardening.
The programme is funded by The Esmee Fairbairn Foundation and The National Lottery Community Fund, with thanks extended to National Lottery players for their support.
