Explore Bradford’s 19th-century crime history on a guided city centre walk

Details of the Walking Tour

The Victorian Crime Scene Walking Tour will be led by an expert guide from The Bradford Police Museum. The tour starts at 10:30am and lasts approximately 90 minutes, beginning and ending at the museum located in City Hall, Centenary Square, BD1 1SD.

During the walk, participants will hear stories drawn from original historical records, shedding light on the realities of crime and justice during the Victorian period in Bradford. Some of the cases covered include:

  • Bradford’s own great train robbery
  • The conviction of three boys for stealing crows in Wibsey
  • The arrest of Black Toppin for sheep theft in Westgate
  • The death of Esther Neal above her corset shop on Darley Street and the suspected circumstances

Each participant will be provided with an audio device to ensure they can hear the commentary clearly throughout the tour.
