Workshop to Discuss Resources for Democracy in Bradford

Community groups to explore support for democratic engagement

A free workshop titled “Resources for Democracy” will take place on 26 September 2026 at the Kirkgate Community Centre in Bradford. The event aims to examine the ongoing need for resources that support democratic participation and consider how these needs might be met in the future.

Background and context

For many years, the Bradford Resource Centre served as a key hub for democratic resources in the city. It provided access to facilities such as meeting spaces, computing, printing, photocopying, badge making, research, training, and advice. However, the centre has since changed hands.

The People’s Property Portfolio (PPP) has taken over the Chapel Street building, where the Bradford Resource Centre was located, with plans to reopen it as an arts and community centre. Alongside PPP, the 1in12 Club in Bradford continues to offer meeting room space and a library, serving as another local resource.

Workshop aims and collaborators

The workshop is being organised in collaboration with PPP and the 1in12 Club. Together, they will explore how these organisations and others can contribute to providing resources that support democracy in Bradford going forward.
