New music event scheduled for Kirkgate Community Centre in May 2026

A new music festival, Wrong Speed Fest North, is set to be held at the Kirkgate Community Centre in Shipley, Bradford on Saturday 23 May 2026. The event will run from 6pm until 11pm and will feature a line-up selected by UK label Wrong Speed Records in collaboration with Bradford-based promoters The Endless Hum.

The Kirkgate Community Centre is fully wheelchair accessible. The event is open to all ages, but is primarily an 18+ gig. Under 18s may attend if accompanied by a parental guardian and with the venue’s discretion. No alcohol will be served to anyone under the legal drinking age.

Line-up and music style

The line-up includes several bands associated with Wrong Speed Records, a label known for its roster of experimental and post-punk artists. The confirmed performers are:

  • Objections: A trio featuring members from Bilge Pump and Nape Neck, known for noisy, rhythmically diverse music. Their debut album Optimistic Sizing was released in 2024.
  • Irked: A punk band formed in 2022, with politically charged lyrics and influences from bands like The Saints and Stiff Richards. Their debut album The Grievance was released on 1 May 2026.
  • Blind Eye: A hardcore band from Nottingham with members from various punk and metal acts. Their new album Mistrust Your Nation is expected later in 2026.
  • Science Fiction: A collective featuring musicians from Nottingham, Ilkley, London, and Shropshire, playing post-punk with a distinctive style. New recorded music is anticipated.
  • The Breedling: A project by Chris Spalton blending noise music with elements of doom, drone, and electronica. Their latest album Irukandji is available on Wrong Speed Records.
