New CEO Appointed at Bradford City FC Community Foundation

Lizzie Saunderson-Trowell has begun her role as Chief Executive Officer of the Bradford City FC Community Foundation, taking over from Ian Ormondroyd who served as CEO since 1999.
Experienced leadership transition
Mrs Saunderson-Trowell, who has been with the Foundation for over ten years, previously held the position of Chief Operating Officer. She has now assumed responsibility for the day-to-day running of the charity.
In her first statement as CEO, Mrs Saunderson-Trowell expressed her commitment to continuing the Foundation’s work in the community and acknowledged the support she received from her predecessor. She said she looked forward to leading the team and expanding the Foundation’s provisions to benefit the people of Bradford.
Ian Ormondroyd welcomed the appointment, highlighting Mrs Saunderson-Trowell’s dedication and work ethic during her time at the organisation. He expressed confidence in her ability to lead the Foundation and contribute positively to the city.
About the Bradford City FC Community Foundation
Established in 1988 by the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA), the Foundation has developed into a significant social outreach organisation serving Bradford and the surrounding district.
Last year, the Foundation engaged with over 36,000 participants through 29 different projects. Its activities include both sporting and non-sporting programmes designed to support people of all ages and backgrounds.

Social impact and value
According to the English Football League (EFL) and EFL in the Community’s report titled ‘Measuring the Impact of EFL Clubs in the Community’, the Bradford City FC Community Foundation generated £12.3 million in social value between 2024 and 2026. The report also noted a return of £12.50 in social value for every £1 invested in the Foundation’s work.
