Bingley History Walk Explores Cottingley Fairies Mystery

The Bingley and District Local History Society is organising a history walk titled “Cottingley Fairies and Things that go Bump in the Night” on Thursday 11 June 2026. The event will take place in Cottingley, starting at 7:00pm at Cottingley Town Hall, located on Main Street, BD16 1SR.

The walk will be led by local historians Peter Earp and John Goode, who are noted for their extensive knowledge of Cottingley and its history. Attendees can expect to learn about the village’s intriguing past, including the famous Cottingley Fairies, a well-known local mystery involving photographs of fairies taken in the early 20th century.

The route has been designed to be user-friendly, making it accessible for most participants. The walk is expected to last approximately 90 minutes, concluding around 8:30pm.
