A free event will be held in Shipley to celebrate the launch of Colin Speakman’s Collected Poems, titled So Let It Be. The event is scheduled for 15 July 2026 at The Triangle, located on Bradford Road, Shipley, from 7pm to 8.30pm.
About the collection and the author
Colin Speakman is a well-known campaigner for Yorkshire and its countryside, with a prolific writing career spanning over sixty books focused on the outdoors, walking, landscape, and history. Alongside his non-fiction work, he has written poetry throughout his life, with his first poems published more than sixty years ago.
So Let It Be brings together all of Speakman’s surviving poetry, including works from his youth, rare early pamphlets, recent poetry, and his most up-to-date compositions. This collection offers a comprehensive overview of his poetic output over several decades.

- Colin Speakman was awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters (D.Litt) by the University of Bradford in 1997, recognising his literary and campaigning contributions to the Yorkshire region.
