Made In Bradford: Texfelt Adds Eco-Step To Underlay Range In Response To Industry Needs
September 4, 2024Bradford-based textile manufacturer, Texfelt, has launched an 8mm Eco-Step variant of its SpringBond® underlay range in response to changing customer requirements.
Texfelt, who are part of the JR Group, are based in Cutler Heights and use up-cycled single use plastics and textiles to reduce the environmental impact of their products. The new Eco-Step product has been introduced to enhance the accessibility of Texfelt’s underlay options and meet industry specifications.
The 8mm Eco-Step product adds to Texfelt’s existing SpringBond® line, which has already been adopted by national retailers and industry leaders. The company’s longstanding collaboration with training provider FloorSkills, as well as a recent endorsement from Bellway Homes, underscores the growing popularity of the product.
The Eco-Step underlay is designed for a wide range of applications, with a particular focus on new housing developments. It has been developed to meet the 8mm industry specification, providing housebuilders with a sustainable alternative to traditional PU foam underlay. Eco-Step is precision-engineered, ensuring a smooth finish without lumps or bumps, and is 100% chemical-free.
The environmental benefits of Eco-Step are notable. Each roll is manufactured using 180 recycled plastic bottles, and Texfelt utilises its ‘twice recycled’ process to incorporate waste from other SpringBond® products into the 8mm underlay. On average, 1,000 plastic bottles are prevented from ending up in landfill when SpringBond® is installed in an average-sized three-bedroom house.
Danny Shortall, Group Sales Director at Texfelt, highlighted the company’s commitment to addressing market demands:
“We have listened to what the housing market have asked for and we’re proud to have developed a product that balances comfort, innovative manufacturing, and affordability in response to industry needs. We aim to provide an accessible price point for those looking to avoid using standard PU foam underlay.”
“Our 8mm Eco-Step is the ideal product for those needing to meet industry standards or requiring an entry-level sustainable underlay alternative. On the other hand, our 9mm and 11mm ranges continue to provide enhanced levels of comfort & performance and are the ideal solution for commercial spaces or luxury environments.”
Texfelt will showcase their new Eco-Step product at the Harrogate Flooring Show from 15-17 September, where samples will be available at stand C9.
