Bradford Literature Festival Wins Two Civic Awards

The Bradford Literature Festival (BLF) has been named Best Civic & Social Organisation Business of the Year at both the 2026 SME500 UK and the Global 100 awards. These accolades highlight the festival’s role in promoting literature and culture accessibility across the UK and beyond.

The SME500 UK awards celebrate small and medium-sized enterprises in the UK that demonstrate growth, resilience, and innovation. The Global 100 awards recognise leading companies and organisations worldwide that influence international business through growth and innovation.
Festival’s approach to accessibility
BLF has implemented an Ethical Ticketing Policy which allows free entry to festival events for individuals who might otherwise be unable to attend. Additionally, the festival offers free access to local community groups via its Community Access Codes scheme. This approach aims to ensure that literature and cultural events are available to all, regardless of personal circumstances.
Festival attendance and upcoming events
- In 2025, the festival attracted over 187,000 attendees across more than 750 events.
- Approximately 61% of all tickets issued were free of charge.
- The 2026 festival is scheduled from Friday 3 July to Sunday 12 July.
- Events will take place at multiple venues throughout Bradford.
- The programme will include talks, discussions, panels, workshops, walks, and tours.
- BLF also runs an annual Education Programme featuring authors, historians, scientists, and artists.
