We Are Different C.I.C., based in Otley, aims to produce interactive creative stimulus materials, including a short animated film titled The Man Who Was Different, based on an original short story by Mark Currie.

The story, which has already been successfully piloted in several UK schools, promotes the message that individuality and diversity should be celebrated. Mark Currie, Director of We Are Different, explains, “The story is a reminder that we should be proud of our differences, no matter who we are or what we look or sound like.”

To support the production of this animated film, Currie has launched a crowdfunding campaign. The campaign has already achieved one third of its funding target, showcasing strong community support. “All donations will help massively in bringing this simple, compelling story to life on the screen,” said Currie. “Even a small donation of £25 ensures your name in The Man Who Was Different film credits.”

Once completed, the film and accompanying resources will be provided free of charge to schools and communities most in need. In addition to being shared widely online via social media, there are plans for the film to be screened in local independent cinemas.

Organisations interested in learning more about the project or becoming sponsors can contact Mark Currie at wearedifferentcic@proton.me. Donations to the crowdfunding campaign can be made at www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/the-man-who-was-different.
