Horsfall Stadium Running Track June 2023

Bradford Airedale Athletic Club is launching an exciting new athletics program called Funetics at The Horsfall Community Stadium, Bradford.

Developed by Athletics England and Inspired by the success of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, Funetics is designed for children aged 4-11 years. It aligns with the requirements of the National Curriculum Key Stage 1 and 2. This aims to motivate and empower young students to thrive in competitive sports and other physically demanding activities.

England Athletics envisions that every primary school-aged child in the country should have access to Funetics sessions. These provide a trackable physical literacy-based course focusing on fundamental movement skills such as running, throwing, and jumping.

Dedicated to better understanding, progression, reward, and recognition, Funetics stands out as the first athletics program for primary school children to offer long-term trackable physical literacy based on a skills-based competency framework. The curriculum draws from a wide range of international resources and expertise. It also benefits from the input of leading coaches and renowned experts in the field.

The Funetics course is being organised by Bradford Airedale Athletics Club and targets children aged 4-7. The sessions run over 14 weeks and will take place at the Horsfall Community Stadium, Bradford, utilising the athletics facilities.

Starting on Sunday, July 23, 2023, and continuing on consecutive Sundays until October 22, each session will run from 11am to 12pm, with registration at 10:50am.
