Bradford’s Texfelt Celebrates Record Growth and Global Expansion
August 7, 2024Bradford-based textile manufacturer Texfelt is celebrating record growth after a major investment in their Cutler Heights manufacturing facility.
The firm, which is part of the JR Group, reported a 20% increase in flooring sales, bolstering its presence in both UK and international markets. This growth comes despite a challenging market environment and is attributed to a substantial £10 million investment in its Bradford manufacturing plant.
Texfelt specialises in producing eco-engineered non-wovens and PU foam replacements. The company’s flagship Springbond® product was developed as a result of the investment and has been a key driver of this growth.
Since its launch, Springbond®, which is a high-performance, fully recyclable underlay made from 85% recycled PET plastic bottles, has diverted 60 million plastic bottles from landfills.

This pioneering product has attracted several high-profile partnerships, propelling Texfelt’s expansion.
Notably, the company has collaborated with the world-renowned hotel Atlantis The Royal in Dubai, opening up access to the hotelier market and export underlay products globally. Other significant partnerships include Alliance Furniture, Dutch mattress maker Auping, and the UK’s largest flooring retailer, Tapi.
In addition, major housebuilders such as Taylor Wimpey and Bellway Homes have adopted Springbond® for its superior performance and environmental benefits. Texfelt’s innovative approach is also making waves in the commercial seating market, as more industry leaders shift away from traditional PU foams.
To support its ambitious growth plans, Texfelt has promoted Danny Shortall to Group Sales Director. Danny will spearhead efforts to enhance sales and marketing functions, engage with customers across the product range, and identify new commercial opportunities aligned with the group’s values. Additionally, Tony Bynon has joined as Business Development Manager to support flooring retail partners, and the European Sales Team has been strengthened with a multilingual Business Development Manager to better serve international customers.
Commenting on the company’s success, Danny Shortall said:
