BRAVE Festival is a day of exciting activities for all ages and abilities. There will be workshops throughout the day finishing with a big party at 5pm.  Do something different for Black History Month this year and join one (or more) of our dance, music and spoken word workshops with your friends and family.

Try our workshops in Hip-Hop, Charleston, Carnival Dance, Vogue, and many more workshops in arts with Black origins. We are celebrating Black history month in a new and practical way, so all of the workshops at BRAVE Festival have origins in Black culture.

Breakin with Lloyd “Tranquil” Thompson (ages 7+) | 10am – 10.50am

Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or a beginner, this class is perfect for anyone looking to learn new moves and improve their breakin skills.

Tap Dance with Sammie Rutter (ages 5+) | 10am – 10.50am

This workshop is perfect for those who are new to tap or anyone who wants to improve their skills. Bring tap shoes if you have them or wear hard soled shoes if not.

Fem and Fabulous Vogue Dance workshop with Angel Blaque (ages 7+) | 11am -11.50am

Get ready to strut your stuff and unleash your inner diva at the Fem and Fabulous Vogue Dance workshop with Angel Blaque.

Caribbean Carnival Dance Party with Tricia Arthur-Stubbs (ages 3+) | 11am -11.50am

Tricia will guide you through the steps of popular Caribbean dances like Soca, Reggae and Calypso. No experience is necessary, and all ages are welcome. Just bring your energy and enthusiasm.

Hip-Hop Workshop with Sammie Rutter (ages 10+) | 12pm – 12.50pm

This workshop is for everyone who loves to dance and have fun. Sammie Rutter, known for her energetic style and passion for Hip Hop, will teach you the latest moves.

Majorette Baton Twirling with Sophie Simpson (ages 7+) | 2pm – 2.50pm

Discover the foundations of Majorette Baton Twirling, including proper grips, spins, tosses, catches footwork, and graceful body movements.

Dancehall Workshop with DHK Shortman (ages 5+) | 2pm – 2.50pm

Join us for an exciting Dancehall Workshop with the incredible DHK Shortman! Get ready to bounce to the infectious Dancehall beats.

All That Jazz Dance Workshop with Jreena Green | 3pm – 3.50pm

Jreena will lead you through the steps of familiar jazz styles such as the Foxtrot, the Charleston and Lindy Hop, in this fun historical dance workshop. It will be suitable for all ages and all levels.

Windrush Poetry Workshop with Simone Yasmin | 3pm – 3.50pm

In this workshop, Simone will lead you through the process of creating your own pieces, based on David Lammy’s Windrush Poetry “We’re here because you were there ” as well as other more provocative pieces.

Rap Workshop with Kemmi Gill | 4pm – 4.30pm

During this workshop, Kemmi Gill will share valuable insights, tips, and techniques to help you improve your rap skills. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about lyric-writing, rhythm, flow, and stage presence from a seasoned professional.

From Charleston to Hip Hop Workshop with Jreena Green | 4pm – 4.50pm

Come with us on a dance adventure as we take you on a mesmerizing journey through time, exploring the evolution of dance from the vibrant Charleston era to the electrifying world of hip-hop.

Musical Mashup with Jerry Crawford | 5pm – 6pm

Join us for the end of the Brave Festival Party! In this fun and family friendly Musical Mash-Up, Jerry will take you on a musical journey through the rich and diverse sounds of black music, such as R&B, Funk, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Soca, Afrobeats, and more.
