Businesses join forces to back Bradford’s NHS hospitals

Bradford’s brand new 100 Club has launched with a host of business and community leaders pledging to support our city’s wonderful NHS hospitals.

The networking club got off to a flying start at Bradford Royal Infirmary, with business people meeting clinicians and senior NHS executives to hear about the inspirational projects funded by Bradford Hospitals’ Charity and how they have improved outcomes and experiences for patients.

Bradford Hospitals’ Charity is the official charity of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It funds equipment and projects which are over and above what the NHS routinely provides.

The Giving Tree was also unveiled at the event, with those businesses who have signed up receiving their own dedicated leaf.

The first business to sign up to support Bradford Hospitals’ Charity was The Aagrah Group of Restaurants. Owner Mohammed Aslam said he had been a proud Bradfordian since he moved to the city in 1967, and was delighted to do all he could to support a hospital which had saved his life.

“I stayed in the Bradford Royal Infirmary for three weeks after a cardiac arrest and the team rescued me. I am lucky to be alive. I’m here now because of them,” he said.

“I believe we are all part of society and that the business community has a responsibility to get together to help our hospitals.”

Other prominent businesses and organisations to join the club include MyLahore, Adams Food Service, The Asian Standard/The Asian Sunday, Give a Gift, Napoleon’s Casino and Restaurant, The Lord Mayor’s Appeal, Platinum Partnership Solicitors, West Bradford Golf Club, Whitaker & Leach, Dixons Trinity Academy and First Give, Bingley Grammar School, Project Rome Foundation, and Yeme Tech Ltd.

Newly appointed Director of Bradford Hospitals’ Charity, Sharon Milner, said: “We feel privileged to work in partnership with businesses from across Bradford and beyond.

“The support provided by the corporate community is vital if we are to deliver the projects across our hospitals which improve outcomes and experiences of our patients.

“Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is known for its ambition and forward-thinking approach to delivering first class healthcare.

“As the official NHS charity of the Trust, we are equally ambitious and believe Bradford deserves the very best. Our charity is the beating heart of the hospital;here to make sure patients have the very best experience possible.

“The 100 Club is an exciting new initiative, an opportunity to work closely with the corporate sector of Bradford, and we look forward to seeing the 100 Club grow into a community which benefits our business partners as well as our NHS hospitals.”

For a one-off or annual donation of £1,000, a business, faith, or community group can join The 100 Club and help our NHS charity support work with clinicians to enhance patient care, medical treatment and the hospital environment.

The funds will pay for a range of projects – from specialist equipment to refurbishments – all of which aren’t routinely funded by the NHS, but which improve patient experiences and outcomes, and make a big difference to Bradford’s communities.

Not only will organisations be reassured that their donations are making a difference, they will also be acknowledged with a leaf on the new Giving Tree, situated in the main concourse of Bradford Royal Infirmary. They will receive regular news about how their donations are making an impact, and they will have the opportunity to meet other like-minded businesses and organisations at an annual planned gatherings. There, they will also hear from front-line NHS staff about the work of Bradford Hospitals’ Charity across Bradford Teaching Hospitals and how 100 Club funds are invested.
