
Community Action Bradford & District Seeks New Trustees

Community Action Bradford & District has announced a call for up to three new trustees to join its Board. The organisation, which supports voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) groups across the Bradford district, is looking for individuals to help guide its work following the adoption of a new strategic direction.
Strategic focus areas
The charity has recently set out three key themes to shape its future activities:
- Collaboration and partnerships
- Support and capability
- Financial sustainability
These themes aim to strengthen the local VCSE sector through enhanced cooperation, improved organisational support, and robust financial planning.
Skills and experience sought
Community Action Bradford & District is particularly interested in candidates with expertise or connections in the following areas:
- Employment and human resources, with potential involvement in the personnel sub-committee
- Finance and accounting
- Business development and income generation
- Marketing and communications
- Innovation and creative thinking
- Local research sector knowledge
- Community knowledge and networks within Bradford and district
The organisation welcomes applications from individuals of all backgrounds and experiences, emphasising commitment to its mission and the ability to contribute meaningfully to the sector.
Trustee role and commitment
New trustees will receive a tailored induction programme, which includes meetings with the Chief Executive Officer and the Chair of Trustees, as well as an overview of the charity’s accounts. Board meetings are held every two months, lasting approximately two hours, with some preparation time required. Meetings are conducted both online and face-to-face.
Trustees may also choose to participate in quarterly sub-committee meetings, although there is no requirement to join a sub-committee during the first year.
Currently, the Board comprises six trustees, and new members will have the opportunity to contribute ideas and insights to the organisation’s work.
