Community event supports improvements to parent accommodation

In November 2024, Bradford hosted a Hollywood-themed charity ball aimed at raising funds for the Neonatal Unit’s parent accommodation facilities. The event successfully raised £10,196.82, contributing towards plans to refurbish and enhance the unit’s current bedroom facilities for families.

Event organisation and fundraising efforts

The ball was organised by a dedicated team led by Andrea, who drew on the success of a previous winter wonderland ball held in 2018. The Hollywood glitz and glamour theme was chosen to create a memorable evening while supporting the Neonatal Appeal, which focuses on improving the environment for parents staying close to their newborns receiving care.

Several individuals and groups played key roles in the event’s success:

  • Karen Toth-Jones from Party Perfection, providing event planning expertise
  • Claire, responsible for securing auction prizes
  • Emma, managing the event finances
  • Lisa and Kelly from Bradford Hospitals Charity, offering support throughout

Community involvement and impact

The event saw strong participation from hospital staff, families who have used the Neonatal Unit, and local businesses. Their contributions and enthusiasm were highlighted as a demonstration of Bradford’s community spirit.

The funds raised will help create more comfortable and dignified spaces for parents during what can be a challenging time while their babies receive neonatal care.

Future plans

Plans are already underway for the 2025 Winter Ball, scheduled for 29 November 2025 at The Cedar Court Hotel. Table bookings will be made available in due course.
