Shivaangee Agrawal: Points of Orientation – A Work in Progress Show
August 24, 2022Thu 8 Sept | 7.30pm | Pay What You Decide
Embracing the tensions of wanting to be alone and wanting to be together, and all the desires in between, four dancers create a new folk dance that speaks to the confusion, responsibility, boredom, intimacy and freedom that we experience in communities. This folk dance is constructed from embodied experiences of Indian, Japanese and Chinese dance, as well as embodied experiences of marginalisation and exclusion. The dancers use a 9-beat rhythmic cycle to build a non-linear narrative of what it means to be in collectivity with each other.
This piece has been developing slowly over the past 2 years, and is informed by our work with very different communities across Bradford and London. We are supported by Arts Council England, Kala Sangam, Streatham Space Project, Akademi and People Dancing.

–
This event is Pay What You Decide, which means you don’t have to pay until after you have seen the event.
Pay What You Decide not only allows you to pay what you can afford, rather than a fixed ticket price, but also removes the financial risk of buying a ticket for an event in advance without knowing whether you are going to enjoy it or not.
Tickets are available to book in advance as usual, but there is no obligation for you to pay until after you have seen the event. You can then decide on a price which you think is suitable based on your experience, which means if you haven’t enjoyed it at all, you don’t have to pay anything.
Please ensure you have arrived and collected your tickets 15 minutes before the event starts in order to secure your seats. At the end of the show, you can decide what to pay, either by cash or card on the door.
