We’re on the shortlist for UK City of Culture 2025
March 18, 2022We’re thrilled to annouce that Bradford is through to the final stage of the competition to be UK City of Culture 2025! We’re one of four places on the shortlist for UK City of Culture 2025, selected from eight long-listed locations, from across the UK.
The news that Bradford has been shortlisted to be the UK City of Culture for 2025 is testament to the immense support and enthusiasm shown by people right across the District.
Thousands of people have already helped shape this process, from community organisations, the creative sector, businesses, and a whole host of groups who have thrown their support behind the campaign and helped us shape what we believe is a winning bid.
Our bid is rooted in the heritage and character of the Bradford, and will reveal the magic of its people, its ambition, its uniqueness and above all its potential.
The BD25 flag flies proudly in the restaurants of Leeds Road and on the sleeves of Bradford Bulls; it’s the top of Morrisons flagpoles across the district, it’s projected onto buildings and emblazoned on articulated lorries For that, we thank you for your support to-date, and it’s because of you that we are now within touching distance of being crowned the next UK City of Culture.
It cannot be underestimated the impact that winning the UK City of Culture title could have on the whole district, specifically in attracting inward investment, boosting the local economy and opening up incredible creative opportunities for young people to enhance their skills.
This is the time to tell the world our own story. This is Our Time, Our Place.
