Experienced Goalkeeper Coach Shifts Focus from First Team to Youth Development

Karl Lenaghan, who has dedicated 50 years to football coaching, has stepped down from his role as goalkeeper coach for Bradford (Park Avenue)’s first team. He will now concentrate on supporting the club’s Academy, assisting in the development pathway towards the first team managed by Craig Elliott.

Background and Reason for Change

Lenaghan’s decision to move from the first team coaching staff is based on personal circumstances. Despite this change, he will remain involved with the club and continue to be a familiar presence at the Horsfall Community Stadium.

• Craig Elliott, Bradford (Park Avenue) Manager: Elliott expressed gratitude for Lenaghan’s contributions since joining the club, describing him as a hard-working coach who played a vital role in pushing goalkeepers and players to reach their potential. Elliott noted that Lenaghan’s presence will be missed by the group but welcomed his new role within the Academy.
• Tom McStravick, Sporting and Executive Director: McStravick thanked Lenaghan for his work with the first team, highlighting his positive impact on recent goalkeepers’ careers. He acknowledged that while it is a loss for the first team, the club is pleased Lenaghan will continue coaching at Bradford (Park Avenue), bringing his experience to the next generation of goalkeepers.

The club is currently seeking an experienced goalkeeper coach to replace Lenaghan in the first team setup. The ideal candidate should have appropriate coaching qualifications and a proven track record in developing goalkeepers.
