Community Action won!
January 25, 2021Local infrastructure support is the beating heart of a community’s voluntary sector. That’s why NAVCA (National Association for Voluntary and Community Action) host the annual Heart of the Community awards show, where they take time to thank those special infrastructure organisations for the hard work they have done.
The 2020 Heart of the Community Awards took place (live on Youtube!) on Friday 4th December 2020. Community Action Bradford & District were nominated in several of the awards’ eight categories this year.
We were especially honoured to have won the Development award for our hard work through the pandemic, supporting voluntary and community groups with access to funding and vital PPE, helping them to understand the ever-changing Coronavirus regulations, and working in conjunction with partners to get support structures in place.
Not only did we win this award, we were also highly commended in both the Partnership award and Representation award categories! This was for our work on the Behind the Mask campaign, telling stories of those who have been impacted by Coronavirus; and our work representing the voluntary sector in order to increase cash flow, workforce capacity and volunteers to sustain support in a range of ways. Dr Soo Nevison, Chief Executive Officer of Community Action said of the big wins, “We are absolutely delighted to have been recognised for the support that we have provided throughout the pandemic, some of this was diversifying work we already do, and some of this was establishing new support structures.
These awards are a true testament to how amazing our teams are and how hard they have all been working. Much of this is in partnership with the sector, and for the sector, so the awards belong to us all”
We would like to emphasise that this win belongs, not only to Community Action, but to every organisation, group and individual that has stood beside us throughout this pandemic in order to achieve and deliver the best outcome for residents and the third sector in the Bradford District. We call this a #TeamBradford effort. A massive thank you to each and every one of you!
