Do you consider yourself a leader? If not, why not?

We are all leaders, whether you lead an organisation, a team, a project, or lead yourself within your role. Leadership has nothing to do with hierarchy, or your job title – you could be a leader, an influencer, a motivator no matter what that title is. From handling difficult situations, to inspiring and encouraging others, to creating and delivering on a vision, leadership is varied.

Let’s look at an example. A young apprentice working on social media for a charity, would you consider them a leader? They don’t manage any employees, they are lower down the hierarchy than some of their peers, what do you think?

Of course they are! They post potentially game changing social media content – a funding pot that helps a smaller charity to survive another year, a fundraiser to help disadvantaged communities access heating over the winter, inspiring colleagues to access latest leadership development offers. They are influencing, motivating, inspiring, creating, delivering – all qualities of a leader.

We are looking for the obvious leaders, the forgotten leaders, the undercover leaders (or leaders in disguise). Community Action Bradford & District and our health and care system is investing in a Leadership Programme to strengthen leadership across our voluntary sector and support our workforce in becoming better leaders. A stand-out feature of this programme has been its co-design – designed by us for us, so it’s exciting, engaging, relevant, current and bespoke for Bradford District and Craven voluntary and community sector. The programme will contain the following elements;

  • On-the-job work projects
  • Mentoring
  • Formal training sessions
  • Meet the leader sessions
  • Working with leaders from other sectors

We are excited to be able to offer 24 places on the programme. So, if you would like to have a place on the programme, please download the Programme Booklet and Expression of Interest form documents below.
