Young jurors to decide fate in fairy tale trial

An immersive courtroom experience designed for children aged 5 to 11 is set to take place at the Bradford Police Museum on Saturday 15 August 2026. The event, titled The Trial: The Three Little Pigs v The Wolf, offers a unique opportunity for young visitors to participate as jurors in a live courtroom drama based on the classic fairy tale.

Event details and format

The trial will be held inside the museum’s original Victorian courtroom, with two showings scheduled:

• 11:30 to 12:00
• 13:00 to 13:30

Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes, with an overall recommendation to allow around one hour for the visit. This allows time for check-in, seating, and safe entry and exit from the historic building.

Children attending the event will act as members of the jury, listening to witness testimonies from characters including the Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf. They will hear evidence, question the case, and ultimately decide the verdict. Adults accompanying the children will be seated in the public gallery, able to observe the proceedings while remaining close to their children. No acting or speaking is required from the children, making it accessible even for those who may be shy.

Purpose and educational value

The production aims to introduce children to the workings of a real courtroom through storytelling and audience participation. It is written by Ann Morgan and performed by The Museum Players, combining heritage, history, and theatre in an engaging format.

• Tickets cost £8 per child (aged 5 to 11) and include admission for up to two accompanying adults.
• The event takes place at Bradford Police Museum, City Hall, Centenary Square, BD1 1SD.
• The courtroom is located on the upper floor and accessed via steep Victorian stairs; there is no step-free or wheelchair access available.
• The museum does not have toilet facilities on site.
• Admission to the museum’s gallery is included, but guided tours of the Victorian police cells are not part of this ticket and must be booked separately.
