Insight into the Making of a Community-Led Art Installation

A curator’s talk on the Vespertine Garden exhibition will take place at South Square in Bradford on 13 November 2026. The event offers a behind-the-scenes look at the development of this immersive art project, which explores nocturnal urban wildlife through the involvement of local children and young people.

Details of the Talk

Domino Panton-Oakley, South Square’s Programme and Gallery Manager, will lead the talk from 1pm to 2pm. Rather than focusing solely on the final exhibition, she will discuss the creative and practical processes involved in curating Vespertine Garden. Attendees will hear about the initial ideas, collaboration with artists, workshops with young participants, and the challenges faced during the project’s development.

About Vespertine Garden

The exhibition centres on the hidden lives of nocturnal wildlife in urban environments. It was developed through workshops led by Bradford-based artists Amy and Emma-Jo Bairstow. These sessions engaged children and young people in exploring biodiversity, environmental issues, and ways to support local wildlife.
