Pre-Match Programme: Bradford Park Avenue vs North Ferriby FC

August 4, 2024 Off By admin

Bradford Park Avenue are set to kick off the 2024/25 season with a highly anticipated home match against North Ferriby FC.

Following two consecutive relegations, Bradford Park Avenue is determined to turn the tide this season. Following the latest relegation, club owner Gareth Roberts expressed a strong commitment to fighting for promotion, aiming to undo the damage whilst continuing to improve the club’s financial position.

The new season brings fresh hope as first team manager Danny Whitaker, who joined the team at the end of December 2023, has been busy restructuring the squad. After inheriting a team built by Mark Bower on a tight budget, Whitaker’s first few months in charge saw a swathe of players come and go, but pre-season has provided the former Macclesfield Town man with ample time to assess his squad and make necessary changes without the threat of relegation looming.

Having won successive promotions in 21/22 and 22/23, North Ferriby come into this fixture hoping to regain that momentum, having finished comfortably mid table last season. This will technically be the first time the two clubs have met in the league, as the side formed from the ashes of North Ferriby United who went into liquidation in 2019. For the purpose of this article though, we’ll be counting both organisations as the same club.

The match will be a tough test for Bradford. With a number of new faces on the roster, Danny Whitaker’s men will need to gel together quickly to have any hope of taking three points.

Players to Watch

  • James Hanson: A former Bradford City star, Hanson brings experience and leadership to Bradford Park Avenue. His presence on the field could be pivotal for the team’s success. However, his time on the pitch has been limited since joining the Avenue, so fans will be eager to see if his involvement increases with the start of a new season.
  • Myles La Bastide: An Avenue Academy graduate, La Bastide impressed last season with his confidence and skill on the ball, showcasing maturity beyond his years. He found the net 5 times in 22 appearances before going out on loan to Pontefract Collieries last season.
  • Tom Corner: The former Avenue man was North Ferriby’s top goal scorer last season, Corner netted 16 goals in 45 appearances and will undoubtedly be a key player to watch when he visits the Horsfall this Saturday.
